How does PPE vending work?
Staff access PPE items with a smartcard which is issued by their employer. Smartcards can be a:
- Card
- FOB Pass
- Wristband
Every PPE vending machine is fitted with a card reader
which is connected to a server via an onsite LAN (local area network) connection or a GPRS modem.
To obtain a safety item, a staff has to insert his card into the reader which records
- the vending machine number
- date & time of purchase
- employee's name & ID
- PPE item dispensed
There is no value stored on the card, so if a card is lost, management can deactivate the card.
Management can set pre-determined 'spend' levels per employee per period or even pre-set 'allowable' PPE items for employees working in different areas or departments.
NatVEND gives you access to online software which allows you to generate regular reports on what has been taken and by whom. This web-based reporting system allows monitoring in real-time of stock levels of PPE items, which can be easily replaced by management.

Benefits of PPE vending
|
1. NatVEND's system allows companies to install PPE vending machines which can dispense products to staff at any time. This is useful for shift workers.
2. Where PPE items may have been given away in the past, they are now controlled.
3. Full accountability for all items dispensed.
4. Use of unique FOB numbers enables issue of special fobs to contractors. These contractors will be charged for the use of PPE products.
5. The online reports ensure efficiency when it comes to restocking the machines. The reports also help reduce wastage and theft.
6. It is possible to have several sites geographically apart hooked up on one system. This facility allows the central accounting department to monitor usage and hence allocate costs to the correct job.
7. Drink and snack vending machines can be sited with PPE machines and operated via the electronic web-based system. Meal allowances can be introduced via 'credits' on the personalised smartcard of the employee.
